Matariki

  • Matariki. Matatriki is 7 stars and back in the days maori people people used to kill animals and and gather food and that like new years for the moari people. And it's the eye of god.

  • During matariki. They have are feast and when we look at the sky but naked eye we can see the 7 stars or we can use are telescope, or lense.

  • What is matariki? Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in mid-winter and for many Māori, it heralds the start of a new year. Matariki literally means the 'eyes of god' mata ariki or 'little eyes' mata riki.
